In Northern Thailand's varied climate we employ a range of restoration strategies tailored to site characteristics, degradation level, and disturbance regime with a focus on high survival rates and rapid growth.
Human encroachment has often left areas venerable which struggle against invasive vines which quickly overwhelm young trees. Here physically removing the vines by hand - silverculture is back-breaking but essential preparation work, but once this is done - an equal number of naturally grown trees matches the germinated and planted trees.
Agroforestry is an ancient and widely implemented system in the Thai highlands - in this part of the world planting trees is nothing new. Several types of agroforestry systems – living fences, taungya, forest gardens, home gardens, and successional agroforestry. Our role is primarily providing the digital tools and platform to help monetize and fund ancient ways.
